Keeping your Cat healthy and safe – Vet Talk

Lily pollen can be fatal for cats

If your a cat owner, no doubt you are looking for ways to keep your pet healthy and safe for a good cat’s life =^.^=
In this video, Nicki Reed (a lecturer in Companion Animal Medicine) at The Royal School of Veterinary Studies, gives tips and advice for your cats health. Nicki talks about how the Maine Coon cat is commonly affected with heart problems and stresses the importance of a regular checkup.

A fairly common poison that Nicki sees and a lot of people aren’t aware of, comes from house plants and flowers in the form of the Lily. What can happen is the pollen from the Lily can fall onto the cats coat, and as cats tend to groom themselves end up ingesting the pollen. As the Lily pollen is toxic to the cat => can result in kidney failure.
